WHERE AND WHEN

Daniel Update

Happy Holy Week, Worship Watch and Wait fam! 2025 is still in the first quarter and I’m already saying, “Huh?!” Someone once said, “If you wanna make God laugh, tell Him what your plans are.”

As many of you will recall, about 8 months ago I embarked on an adventure of helping my brother-in-law with his business in Arkansas. Thinking this might develop into more of a longterm endeavor, I began to make plans to establish a WWW there. Cutting to the chase, things haven’t turned out quite like I thought they would. Can anybody relate? The business part looks like it’s winding down, and since that was the original impetus for my commuting to Arkansas, my WWW plans look like they won’t happen either, for now anyway. As I regroup and get ready for the next adventure, I thank the Lord for fun times working together again with my brother-in-law, and for being able to reconnect with old friends back where I began in ministry almost 50 years ago. Now, as I pray and ponder what is next, it might be this...

About 3 weeks ago I began to feel an urge to go to our State Capitols (Kansas and Missouri) to worship and pray. What started as an urge has now become an urgency. What I’m feeling is reminiscent of what happened with me in Arizona about 20 years ago. I moved on an impression to go establish a presence in front of the State Capitol in Phoenix and worship and pray for our city, state and nation. A few friends tagged along, and for 2 years we did it, believing God to do what only He could do as we did our little thing out there. Along the way, enough grace was evident to keep us going, and a few times the Lord gave us tokens that we were hitting the bullseye.

Since Kansas City is a two-state city, with capitals of both states not too far away, I decided to try and go for both. I asked my son-in-law Jared, who works in the Missouri attorney general’s office to begin to gather info for me on the State Capitol in Jefferson City. Then yesterday morning early, Don Wampler and I did a reconnaissance mission to Topeka, Kansas. When we arrived at the Capitol building, all I can say is, I could feel it. God’s favor was tangible. We walked into the building from the basement parking area, then went upstairs to explore the senate and house chambers. After that we wandered for a while outside around the perimeter of the building. The setting is so perfect to do what’s in my heart to do there, I can’t even tell y’all how perfect it is. I absolutely can’t wait to go there with my guitar. So I think we’ll start in Topeka. Don is going to speak this week with his senator friend who is the assistant majority leader to see what legal hoops, if any, we need to jump through. But I’m just gonna go and believe God to open the way as we heed the call.

Those who know me, know I’m a “Ready! Fire! Aim!” guy. God has always seemed to lead me in an unconventional, not very “by the book” way. Thankfully, I’ve learned to just go with it, and enjoy the journey. So here goes. The Lord willing, Gwen and I will be at the Kansas State Capitol building in Topeka at 3 o’clock this Sunday afternoon. Any of you adventurous types are welcome to join us. We’ll worship and pray for about an hour, then head back home. Simple. And if it rains, there are a couple of perfect spots under canopies that will be totally out of the weather. If any of y’all end up showing up and can’t find us, text me at 816-437-1539 and I’ll let you know where we are.

As you can tell, I have very few details. But what I’m envisioning is going to one of our State Capitols every Sunday afternoon — maybe alternating between the two, or focusing on one per month. Not sure. But we’ll figure it out. My intent with this email is to inform, not necessarily to recruit. Although, we would absolutely LOVE some company! But I just want y’all to know what’s going on as Gwen and I heed this call. And of course, it will also impact our Sunday evening WWW gatherings as they have been at Grace Point. I have many questions, but I’m more than confident God will fill in the blanks as we do our best to hear His voice and follow His lead. Bottom line, we’re just gonna start, and believe God to confirm and lead as we go.

On the national front, I’m thankful beyond words for the president God has given us, and all he’s trying to accomplish. But you don’t have to be a prophet to discern that without divine intervention, the entrenched enemy cannot be rooted out. The apostle Paul warned us that our battle is not against flesh and blood. Brothers and sisters, we’re here. By God’s grace we will overcome evil with good.

I will be in touch with how our Sundays progress as we take one step at a time. Please pray with me and Gwen as we launch out onto these uncharted waters. I hear there’s nothing like it!

Going for the Throne,
