Beginnings

WWW was born outdoors in a park almost 27 years ago in Phoenix, AZ. Gwen and I and our 5 kiddos decided to “go public” with our family worship time. The favor of God that followed was nothing less than remarkable. The joy of agenda-less, unscripted worship and prayer quickly caught on, and became a “thang” in the Valley of the Sun. The without-walls nature of these gatherings found its way into the big “C” church community in Phoenix, and we enjoyed intermingling with many different groups and denominations. From then till now, that same DNA is evident throughout our WWW journey.

More recently

In my 16 fun years back here in Kansas City, WWW has been at Colonial Presbyterian Church, Rock Church, The River Church, Christ Church Anglican, Oak Grove First Baptist, Hillcrest Covenant Church, Freedom Fire, Impact KC, Grace Point Baptist, and various outdoor venues. I’ve enjoyed hearing from many who have been encouraged in their personal devotion and worship experience by attending. So good! And besides all the genuine personal experiences, I know that I know this whole region has been impacted in the heavenlies by a handful of us “going there” in worship.

Stoked for more

I don’t know exactly what God does when ordinary people gather to worship and pray. But I do know heaven and earth intermingle on those occasions, and stuff happens here on earth as a result. I have a conviction that the atmosphere in a city can be affected by worship. If that is true, our singular, vertical focus at WWW gatherings is blessing our city. And we are partnering with the rest of the body of Christ, in this region and beyond, to overcome evil with good. That, my friends, is powerful! On earth as it is in heaven, if I remember correctly, is our mandate. Our starting place is to DO what they’re doing in heaven. All eyes on the Throne. Vertical focus, horizontal impact. By God’s grace we will continue to do so, and even more!
